Email volume scales by adding mailboxes, not by pushing one mailbox harder — every mailbox has a safe daily ceiling, and the pros spread sending across several. The clean way to add mailboxes is on a separate lookalike domain (like yourbizoffers.com for yourbiz.com) so your main domain's reputation is never on the line. That used to mean an afternoon across a registrar, Google, and DNS settings — the Sending-Domain setup pulls almost all of it into DirectREI.
Buy the domain (Settings → Email)
- Click + Get a sending domain. Type your business name and hit Suggest domains — you get available lookalikes with live prices (typically under $20/yr) — or check a specific name yourself.
- Fill in the registration contact (required by domain registries; kept private with WHOIS privacy) and buy. The price you see is charged to your prepaid credits, and it renews yearly — card on file first, credits as backup, and you can turn auto-renew off any time from the domain's card.
- The moment the domain registers, DirectREI publishes the Google email DNS for you: the MX record, SPF, and a starter DMARC policy. You never touch a DNS screen.
Set up Google Workspace (the guided checklist)
Each domain gets a checklist card in Settings → Email. Two steps happen on Google's side because Google deliberately has no automation for them — the checklist walks you through both, and each is a single copy-paste:
- Create the Workspace. The card links to Google Workspace signup (Business Starter, $7/user/month, paid to Google directly). When Google asks you to verify the domain, copy the
google-site-verification=…code into the card and click Publish — we put it in DNS for you, then you click Verify on Google's page. - Turn on DKIM. In Google Admin → Apps → Google Workspace → Gmail → Authenticate email, generate the record and paste its value into the card. (Google sometimes makes brand-new accounts wait 24-48 hours before this step — the card says so.)
Connect the mailboxes
- Create each user in Google Admin (e.g.
jane@yourbizoffers.com), turn on 2-Step Verification for it, and create an app password (myaccount.google.com → Security → App passwords). - Click + Connect a mailbox on this domain — the Add Mailbox form comes prefilled with the address and Gmail settings; you paste just the app password. It joins your sending rotation immediately.
- New mailboxes start at 30 emails/day with warmup mode on — deliberately gentle. Fresh domains need a ramp; raise the limit after a few weeks of clean sending.
Good to know
- Your plan's mailbox limit applies as usual (Starter 1, Pro 10, Scale unlimited) — the checklist shows your remaining slots and points you at an upgrade when they're full.
- The domain and the Google Workspace are yours: you own the registration, the tenant, and the mailboxes. DirectREI hosts the DNS and automates what can be automated.
- If a purchase can't complete, your credits are refunded automatically and the card says so.
- Replies flow in like any other mailbox — IMAP reply detection, AI replies, and rotation all work the moment a mailbox connects.
