Unlike texting, calling from a US number needs no registration — you can call the minute you have a number. Calls from your own numbers are also marked as verified by your phone company automatically (the top “A” rating), so there's nothing to set up for that.
Two things still decide whether people pick up: the name they see, and whether your number gets labeled “Spam Likely”. Both are free to fix, under Settings → Phone → Get your calls answered.
1. Show your business name on calls
- Type the name to show — up to 15 letters, numbers and spaces. We start it from your business name (we drop words like LLC so it fits).
- Click Show this name on all your numbers. It goes on every Telnyx number at once, for free.
- It shows on calls within 1–3 days. Numbers you buy in Direct REI later get it automatically.
The list under the box shows what each number shows today. Landlines and some cell carriers display the name; most cell phones still show only the number — which is why step 2 matters more.
Different names on different numbers
A number can show its own name — say one line for land buyers and another for houses. Click Change next to the number, type its name and click Save. It's marked Own name, and the main name skips it from then on. To put it back, click Change, then Use the main name.
2. Keep your numbers off “Spam Likely”
Three companies — Hiya, First Orion and TNS — decide the “Spam Likely” labels for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. The free Free Caller Registry is one form that registers your numbers with all three.
- Click Open the Free Caller Registry. The form can't be sent for you, but every answer is already listed in Direct REI — your business name, address, website, contact details and about how many calls you made in the last 30 days. Click Copy beside each one and paste it in.
- Add your numbers: type up to 20 in, or download the numbers file and upload it (one 10-digit number per line, the format the form asks for).
- Submit the form, then click I submitted these numbers in Direct REI. A number you add later shows as Not submitted yet, so you know to register it too.
Each of the three companies emails you to confirm. Register every new number before it starts making calls — it's much easier than getting a label removed later.
If a number still gets labeled
Settings → Number health shows how each number is doing — answer rate and how many calls it makes a day. Numbers that make a lot of short, unanswered calls get labeled fastest, so spread calls across several numbers and keep each one's daily volume reasonable.
