E-signatures: send & sign contracts in DirectREI

7 min read · Updated 2026-09-05

“E-signatures: send & sign contracts in DirectREI” is a Direct University lesson from Direct REI, the AI cold-outreach platform and CRM for real estate investors. Upload a contract, place the signature fields, and get it signed — by text, email, or in person — without anyone leaving DirectREI.

DirectREI has built-in e-signatures: upload a purchase agreement, drag the signature fields onto it, and send it. Your seller taps a link and signs on their phone at directrei.com/sign — no account, no app, no third-party site. The sealed, court-admissible PDF lands back in your CRM automatically.

Sending a document (from scratch)

  1. Open a contact (or a deal) and pick ✍️ Send for signature — it's in the contact's ⋯ menu, the Documents section, and the deal modal's E-sign button.
  2. Upload a document — PDF, Word, or an image. Up to 4 files, 10 MB total.
  3. Confirm the signers. The contact is prefilled; add anyone else — co-seller, spouse, your cash buyer. A signer without an email can still sign via text link or in person.
  4. Place the fields — the editor opens right in the app. Drag Signature, Initials, Date, and Text boxes onto the document for each signer. (This step needs a desktop or tablet screen; everything else works on a phone.)
  5. Review & send — you'll see exactly what it costs before anything happens (see pricing below).

Delivering the signing links

After you send, every signer gets their own link — live immediately, no signing order. For each signer choose:

Tip: Links expire after 30 days. If a document expires, re-send it as a new document (that's a new send — quota slot or $0.89).

Templates — build once, reuse forever

If you send the same purchase agreement over and over, make it a template: Send for signature → Use a templateManage templates. Upload the contract once, name the signer roles (Seller, Buyer, …), and place the fields once. A template must have its fields placed and saved before you can use it — the list shows Ready vs Needs fields.

Auto-fill from your CRM: name the template's text fields things like seller_name, property_address, price, legal_description, emv, parcel_id, or closing_date and DirectREI fills them from the linked contact, deal, and property every time you use the template. Pick the template for any lead, map each role to a real person, and the contract comes out pre-typed.

What it costs

What e-sign is for (and not for)

E-signatures are legally valid for the contracts investors actually send — purchase agreements, assignment contracts, LOIs, disclosures — under the federal ESIGN Act and UETA.

Scope: This is contract execution only. Deeds, mortgages, notarization, and county recording happen at closing through your title company or attorney — DirectREI does not notarize or record documents. A few states have quirks around e-signed seller disclosures; when in doubt, ask your closing attorney. This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice.
