Notifications: choose what pings you, on your phone and computer

Everything about notifications lives in one place: Settings → Notifications. It works the same on a computer and on a phone, but each device has its own switches — so set it up once on each device you want pinged.

Turn them on for this device

1. Open Settings → Notifications. The top card, Notifications on this device, says whether this device is on.
2. Click Turn on and allow notifications when your browser or phone asks.
3. Click Send a test. A real notification arrives within a few seconds. On a phone it waits 5 seconds so you can lock the screen and see it the way a real one lands.

Pick what pings you

The What to notify me about table has one row per event and up to three switches:

• Push (this device) — a notification from your phone or computer, even when Direct REI is closed.
• In app (this device) — the pop-up in the corner while Direct REI is open.
• Email (all devices) — follows you everywhere, because it goes to your login email.

The rows:

• Team chat — direct messages, and @mentions or thread replies in channels. You can keep DMs on and mute channel mentions, or the other way round. Direct messages can also be emailed to you; an email is skipped if you read the message in the app within a few minutes.
• Leads — text replies and email replies are separate switches for push, in-app pop-ups and email, so you can be pinged for texts only. AI drafts ready for review can pop up in the app or push to your phone (a burst of drafts arrives as one notification).
• Calls — incoming calls (a heads-up while your line rings), missed calls, and voicemails are separate switches. A missed-call alert waits a moment in case the caller leaves a voicemail — then you get the voicemail alert instead. A voicemail email includes the transcript when there is one.
• Tasks & automations — follow-up reminders when a task assigned to you comes due (push and email), and emails an automation rule sends you.

The newer alerts — emails for texts, email replies, calls and direct messages; in-app pop-ups for texts, emails and calls; push for AI drafts — start off. Tick the ones you want. Alert emails come from your account's connected mailbox and go to your login email, and several in a row arrive together as one email. A blank cell in the table means that kind of alert doesn't exist for that event — hover it to see why.

Quiet hours

Tick Quiet hours on this device and pick a window (it can cross midnight, like 10 PM to 7 AM). Push notifications to that device pause during the window, in that device's time zone. Leave Still let calls through on if you want incoming, missed calls and voicemails to reach you anyway. Quiet hours are per device — your phone can be quiet overnight while your computer isn't.

Sound and background-tab banners

Play a sound with in-app alerts adds a short chime to the pop-ups. If your browser can't receive push notifications, you'll also see a switch for a desktop banner when the Direct REI tab is in the background.

Your devices

The bottom card lists every device you've turned notifications on for, when each was last active, and which one you're on now. Test sends a notification to that device; Remove stops notifications there (handy for an old phone). A device whose subscription expired is removed automatically the next time something is sent to it — turn notifications back on from that device.

Not seeing notifications?

• Send a test first. If it arrives, the connection works — check the switches and quiet hours.
• Check the system settings: on a Mac, System Settings → Notifications → your browser; on Windows, Settings → System → Notifications; on iPhone, Settings → Notifications → Direct REI; on Android, the app's App info → Notifications.
• A Focus or Do Not Disturb mode hides banners — add Direct REI (or your browser) to its allowed apps.
• If you blocked notifications at some point, the card tells you exactly where to allow them again on your device.
• On a computer the browser has to be running (minimized is fine) to receive notifications.
