The Team page works out pay for you from the time clock, each person's pay rate and your bonus rules. No money moves — Direct REI never pays anyone. You pay through your bank or payroll provider; we give you the numbers and a CSV for it. Pay and time off are on the Pro and Scale plans.
Who sees what
- The owner and admins see and change pay for the people they manage.
- An admin never changes their own pay or the owner's, and never sees the owner's pay.
- Everyone else sees only their own pay (an estimate so far, plus past pay periods) and their own time off.
1. Pay settings
On the Team page open Time, switch to 💵 Pay and click ⚙ Pay settings (owner and admins):
- Pay schedule — paid every week, every two weeks, twice a month (1st–15th, 16th–end) or once a month, and A day a pay period starts on.
- Work days — used for salary days, time off and "who's out".
- Overtime after (40 hours a week at 1.5× by default), plus optional Daily overtime after and Double time after for states that require them.
- Paid time off year starts in, Pay sick days, and Unpaid days off lower salary.
- Start payroll on (optional) — pay periods before this day aren't worked out or shown.
2. Each person's pay
On People, open a person and click the Pay tab:
- Under Pay rate add a New pay rate: Hourly (an amount an hour), Salary (a year), Commission / bonuses only, or Not paid through here, and the day it starts. Tick Exempt from overtime for salaried roles that don't get overtime. A raise is a new rate with a new start day — old periods keep the old rate.
- Under Payroll details set whether they're an Employee or Contractor, their Payroll provider ID (so the CSV lines up with your provider), usual hours a week, and a last day if they've left.
There's nowhere to type bank details, tax forms or Social Security numbers, and that's on purpose — those stay with your payroll provider.
3. Bonuses
Click + New bonus rule on the Pay view. Bonuses are worked out from what Direct REI already tracks for each person:
- A set amount for each one — for example $5 per interested lead, or $1 per call Only after the first 100.
- A set amount for reaching a number — levels like 50 calls → $50, 100 calls → $150 (the highest level reached pays).
- A share of the fee on deals they win — a percent of the assignment fee on won deals they created. A deal never pays twice.
- A set amount each time they hit a team goal — uses the goals from Analytics, team numbers & KPI goals.
Choose what counts (calls, connected calls, interested leads, texts, emails, contacts added, deals created, deals won, hours worked or talk time), whether it's Counted each pay period, week or day, an optional Most it can pay a period, and Who it's for. Only the owner can make a rule for everyone; an admin names the people.
For anything else — a holiday bonus, gas money — use + One-off pay: a Bonus, a Reimbursement (not wages) or an Adjustment (can be negative), paid with the period that includes the day you pick.
4. Review and close a pay period
- On 💵 Pay you see your pay periods. When one ends it says Ready to close (Home shows a reminder too). Click Review →.
- Each person's line shows regular hours, overtime, time off, bonuses, reimbursements and the total. Click a person to see every line.
- Anything under Needs fixing — someone still clocked in, a time fix waiting, a pay rate missing — has to be sorted out first.
- Click Close pay period. The pay is saved and locked: hours, time off and one-off pay in that period can't change any more.
- Click ⬇ Export CSV and give the file to your payroll provider, or pay people yourself.
- When you've paid everyone, click Mark paid — a note for your records.
Time off
Set up paid time off on People → their name → Time off: a Yearly bank of hours (optionally Less in their first year), hours Earned from hours worked (for example 1 hour for every 30 worked), or no paid time off, plus Most they can hold (optional). Use Change the balance by hand to add or take away hours with a reason; Balance history shows every change.
- Asking: on the Time off tab click 🌴 Request time off — paid time off, sick or unpaid, the days and hours a day. You see your balance before you send it.
- Answering: the owner and admins see requests waiting (the tab shows a count, and Home shows a card). Approve or Decline — the person is told right away. If approving would take their paid time off below zero you're asked to confirm.
- Adding for someone: + Add time off for someone records approved time off for a person (useful for people without a login).
- Who's out · next two weeks is visible to the whole team — it never shows the kind of time off or a note.
Approved time off is paid at that day's rate when the period is worked out. Sick days are paid if Pay sick days is on; unpaid days are $0.
For your team
Everyone sees My pay on the Time tab (an estimate for the current period and their past periods) and My time off on the Time off tab. The Home clock card warns as they near overtime and shows their paid time off left.
Ask Oliver
Oliver can show this period's pay or last period's ("what does Sam get paid this period?"), set a pay rate, add a bonus or reimbursement, build a bonus rule ("$5 for every interested lead Sam gets"), close a pay period, show who's out and everyone's balance, answer a time off request, and ask for time off for you ("I need Friday off"). Oliver never shows pay or time off details inside a shared Team Chat channel, and always reminds you that no money moves.
